How To Not Over Eat

Well Christmas day may be over, but a lot of families are still continuing with holiday festivals and celebrations, including family meals. Many people will gain a weight that they later will wish they hadn’t.

So how do you keep yourself from becoming a victim to food? Very simple. Don’t over eat. When the food is served, help yourself to small portions. This way you can still have a variety and taste all the food, but you won’t be overeating.

Another thing you can do is snack on raw nuts before meals. Nuts are very filling and will keep you from stuffing all the unhealthy, yet yummy deserts into your body.

Lastly, if you can help yourself, stay away from deserts altogether. Excuse yourself from the table before desert is being served. Perhaps that might be considered as being rude…but you got to look out for yourself first. Your family should try and understand.

Happy Holidays!

What I Eat

Yesterday I mentioned that on average my grocery bill is only $20.00 per week. So how do I do it, and what do I eat?

I don’t go hungry, (if that is what you’re thinking.) I always eat when I’m hungry and eat until I’m satisfied.

For breakfast I used to drink a green smoothie, but lately I’ve been craving fruit, so I’ll eat a few apples, or oranges.

I buy the apples from a local orchard; $5.00 for a huge bag which lasts me between 2-3 weeks. To buy this many apples in the grocery store would cost more than twice as much!

Oranges I can also get at a good deal; 30 of them for $15.00, I do have to drive a little to get my hands on these, but oh they are soo good.

For lunch, I’ll usually have more fruit or vegetables, along with some nuts. I don’t buy any nuts in the grocery store, but rather go to a place which specializes in nuts. I find they are cheaper and fresher there.

For supper, if I don’t cook anything I’ll have a leafy green salad. When I do cook, I use all natural ingredients, and usually only cook foods like rice, beans, vegetable soup, or bake potatoes. Those are all very cheap to make.

Here is what I don’t eat: meat, dairy, or dairy products, canned foods, frozen foods, or prepared foods.

I don’t drink pop, or other juices available at the grocery store. Instead I drink lots of lemon water, plain water, and tea; ginger tea is my absolute favorite. And every once in a while, (especially in the summer,) I like to drink fresh fruit smoothies, or fruit juices.

Now that is not all I eat, but that basically gives you a general idea of what my diet is like.

How Much Do You Spend On Groceries?

I used to spend a lot of money on groceries…but since I began to make changes in my diet, I find I am consuming not even half or a third of what I used to.

When I first began adding more fruits and vegetables to my diet, I discovered that I actually ate way more, because they made me so hungry. But now that my system is somewhat cleaned out…and especially since the 8-day juice fast, my body just does not need as much food as previously.

How can this be? It is actually quite simple. When the digestive system is clogged, the body is unable to properly absorb the nutrients it receives and many times will just pass through you as if you hadn’t eaten them at all.

But, when your digestive system is clean, it can and will absorb the food you put into your body. Thus eating an apple or an orange will fill you up just as well as anything else.

So how much do I spend on groceries? Well it is hard to keep track from one week to another, but on average I spend about 20 per week. (that is if I don’t eat out).

What Will You Eat This Holiday Season?

The upcoming holiday season has many different meanings for people, and so everyone celebrates it in a different way. But despite of the different celebrations…all celebrations seem to have something in common, and that is spending time with family and enjoying great food.

Because of all the holiday dinners people tend to gain weight, which they then later have to loose. And I tell you, loosing it isn’t as easy as gaining it. (just the opposite of money.)

But what if I told you that you could have all the food you wanted and not gain a single pound? Would you eat it? Perhaps not as much if you’re new to the idea of raw food.

With raw food you can eat as much as you like and you won’t gain any weight. Now that doesn’t mean that you can sit there all day and snack away on celery, but your body won’t crave as much if you stick with raw food because it will get the proper nutrients, and therefore you’ll consume less.

Now most people when they think of raw food they think of boring…but it doesn’t have to be, raw food can be just as exciting as any other kind of food.

Here are some great holiday raw food ideas.

21 day juice fast = 8 day juice fast

Well as you have probably guessed by now, I did not last 21 days, instead I only lasted 8. But I’m not feeling too bad about it, because it was the longest I ever fasted…so I am improving.

I am committed to doing the fast again, and perhaps this time I will last longer, I will aim for 2 weeks.

I think I only lost like 2 pounds or so, but I lost quite a bit of cellulite, and have a lot more energy…so I’m happy about that.

Anyway, I do have to admit it is kind of difficult to adjust your body to receive food again. I had a not so good time last week with eating, it was like my stomach just could not handle food…one apple and I was full. I guess that was good because it keeps me from snacking on junk.
